Chameleons are able to climb, change colour and hunt almost from the moment they are born, since most will not have a parent to teach them how.
They also mature quickly, become fully-formed adults within a year of coming out of their shell, according to the San Diego Zoo.

No need for practice! Adorable moment baby chameleon changes colour for the first time just moments after hatching
Amazing moment baby chameleon is born -AkademiPortal from Akademi Portal on Vimeo.
This is the fascinating moment a baby chameleon was filmed changing colour for the first time just moments after hatching from its egg.
The adorable footage shows the reptile crawling out of its shell, which resembles little more than a dried pea as it wriggles free.
The tiny creature can be seen blinking its eyes and taking in the new world before stretching out its legs and breaking free.
Even before the creature has taken its first steps, its bright green skin has already started morphing into a different pattern.
By the end of the film, which is only around a minute and a half long, the baby looks completely different to when it hatched.
The footage was captured at Simply Rock Creek Chameleons in Texas and has been viewed millions of times since being uploaded yesterday.
Sophia Bultena, the owner of the pet store, said the egg was one of around 30 they began incubating eight months ago after breeding two of their chameleons.
Most species of chameleons lay eggs, climbing down from their natural home in the forest canopy to dig a hole in the ground, where the young will incubate for up to 24 months before hatching.
Chameleons are able to climb, change colour and hunt almost from the moment they are born, since most will not have a parent to teach them how.
