Multiple schools have been evacuated and classrooms placed into lockdown across New South Wales and Victoria after threats were made.

Police have confirmed operations are underway at ‘numerous’ schools across the state in the Sydney metropolitan and southern regions.

And on Friday afternoon Victorian police announced several schools in the southern state had also received ‘a threatening phone call’ and were being evacuated as a precaution.

Threats were reportedly made to schools in Woolooware and Ulladulla, south of Sydney, Richmond and Penrith in the city’s west and Mona Vale on the northern beaches

Up in Sydney, Seven News reported threats were made to schools in Woolooware and Ulladulla, south of Sydney, Richmond and Penrith in the city’s west and Mona Vale on the northern beaches.

Helicopter footage showed students massing on fields at Penrith High School. A parent of a student at Woolooware High School told Radio 2GB students had been evacuated.

2GB said the schools had received ‘bomb threats’ or ‘bomb hoaxes’.

In a statement, NSW Police warned making threats was a serious criminal offence.

‘Every effort will be made to identify the person or persons responsible,’ police said.

The Education Department said each school is taking ‘precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its students’.

A spokesman stressed: ‘No students are in danger. Police are attending at each location also as a precaution.’

He said concerned parents can contact their child’s school.
