The word ‘festival’ may conjure up images of sodden fields and mud-splattered wellies, but over at Coachella it’s an altogether more classy affair.
And as celebrities and supermodels descended upon California for the first weekend of festivities, it was clearly the fashion – not the music – that was taking centre stage.
It was a sea of YSL, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel and delicate vintage dresses as A-list guests ditched wellies and cagoules in favour of oversized shades and sequins – and as a result, fellow guests could have been forgiven for thinking they’d stumbled into a runway show at Paris Fashion Week.

While Alessandra Ambrosio cut a stylish figure with brown suede boots and a printed YSL jacket, she was joined on day two of the outdoor festival by a who’s who of young Hollywood, including Ashley Greene, Emma Roberts and Bella Hadid.
Brooklyn Beckham donned Gucci, Suki Waterhouse stunned in Sonia Rykiel and Kaia Jordan Gerber – Cindy Crawford’s daughter – was spotted in Alexander Wang.
Supermodel Alessandra, 35, added layers of necklaces and bangles to her festival ensemble, opting to style her hair into delicate French braids. But her ensemble was positively drab compared to that of Katy Perry, who took a break from her public displays of affection with new beau Orlando Bloom to step out in a colourful, cloud-print jumpsuit and some fluffy pink mules.
Fellow festival-goer Ashley Greene chose a statement necklace with a low-cut black bodysuit, a fringed red mini skirt and black military-style boots. The Twilight star showed off a hint of cleavage as well as her toned legs in the bold look, finishing it off with unique sunglasses.
